Fra Beecher [b. 1986] is a life model and photographic artist. She looks and is looked at.

In 2009 Fra received a BA in Photographic Art from the University of Wales, Newport and recently completed a Masters in Photography at the University of the West of England (2020).

Fra models for amateur and professional artists, at art schools, colleges and for community groups. She is also co-founder of a life model collective. Her photographic practice is informed by her work as a life model. She examines the nude female body as subject and object. Through her work she challenges the misconception that life models are passive muses. Her project 'Body of Work' explores the physical role of the female life model.

During the last year Fra’s practice has been influenced her by virtual modelling experiences; using screenshots and screen recordings to make self portraits, and experimenting with texts works. 'Network' (work in progress) explores the virtual role of the life model. Fra has also created online life drawing workshops which bring together drawing and writing to help artists explore the experience of viewing the model through a screen.

Fra has written about her experiences as a model; her piece Working from Home; Perspectives of a Life Model was published online by The Everyday Magazine.
